Tsinghua University Suzhou Automotive Research Institute, founded in 2011, is the first dispatch institute of Tsinghua University specialized in industrial application, and a comprehensive auto research institute co-established by Tsinghua University and the People’s Government of Suzhou Municipality. With Tsinghua’s technological and talent strengths as well as Suzhou’s economic and geographical advantages, the institute follows major needs of the country and industry and devotes itself to R&D of applied auto technologies, commercialization, engineering and technological services. Focusing on intelligent connected vehicle (ICV), new energy, energy efficiency and emission reduction, lightweight and crashworthiness, NVH and other key subjects, it’s been committed to leading the industry’s development via R&D and industrialization of new technologies and products and promoting industrial upgrading with technologies, financing and talent services, and it has established six businesses, namely technological innovation, technological services, fintech, talent services, technological transfer and incubation, and developed itself into a pillar platform for China’s innovative auto development. By the time this report is formulated, the institute has finished more than 70 items of hi-tech R&D and commercialization, incubated approx. 100 enterprises, and served approx. 100 enterprises at home and abroad. It will adhere to the philosophy of “innovation, opening, cooperation and sharing”, and develop itself into the “Silicon Valley” of China’s auto industry that attracts high-end talents and hi-tech enterprises, and gathers prosperous premium services and active fintech players.
