Company profile

The Laboratory of Detection of Three-Dimensional Center of Gravity was established in 2006 by Professor Yutaka Watanabe of Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology in commemoration of the invention of the Detection of Three-Dimensional Center of Gravity (D3DCG) technology. D3DCG can detect the center of gravity of the human body and various vehicles, as well as the restoring force to prevent rollover, without knowing the mass (m) and spring coefficient (k). The D3DCG team is a graduate team from the Laboratory of Detection of Three-Dimensional Center of Gravity and was invited to participate as a Japanese representative in the student safety technology design competition of the 27th International Conference on Enhanced Safety of Vehicles (ESV) in 2023. The D3DCG team demonstrated the fastest autonomous cornering without rollover based on D3DCG in the competition and achieved a good result of first place. This is the first time a Japanese team has won a championship since the establishment of ESV 50 years ago.
